Cornelia (Corrie) Matina Cyr age 78, of Nanaimo, BC passed away 8 November 2022. Corrie left this earth after a long, but difficult battle with multiple serious illnesses since 2005. A fighter until the end, Corrie, is survived by, husband since 1963 Lionel Cyr, son Shane Cyr, brother John Van De Lagemaat, brother Martin Van De Lagemaat, and predeceased daughter Monique Cyr, and predeceased brother Wilf Van De Lagemaat.
Corrie was born 19 November 1943 in Renswoude, The Netherlands. Corrie emigrated to Canada with her family of origin, arriving at Wolf Island, Ontario on 9 July 1954. Corrie grew up in Port Alberni, BC and having lived in Port Hardy, BC for 38 years she eventually settled in Nanaimo BC. Corrie gained her Canadian citizenship 6 September 1974. She loved to travel, the sun, the ocean, and beaches.
Corrie requested that no services are planned and a cremation. We are to scatter her ashes in one of Corrie's favorite spots, Qualicum Beach BC, with her daughter's ashes.
Corrie will be missed by her family and many friends more than words can say. Our family is grateful to know that Cornelia Matina Cyr is finally at peace.
