Dan Skirrow passed away at home in Port Alberni surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the age of 56 after a year and a half long battle with cancer.

Dan is survived by his Loving wife of 5 years, Sharon; children Noni (Jay), Chad, Derek (Carla), Kane and Brett; grandchildren Codi (Renaye) and Rebecca (Darren); great grandchildren Aidyn, Bentley and Cory; brothers Tom (Violet) and Jim (Larla); parents Arthur and Louise; as well as extended family and friends.

Dan grew up in the Alberni Valley. A brief try at living in Alberta quickly convinced him, there was no place like home. He worked at both the Somass and APD Mills as a lumber grader as well as many other roles. Days off were often spent trying to find somewhere new to explore or heading to a favorite fishing spot.

Dan achieved his black belt in ITF Tae kwon do and was very passionate about the martial arts. He enjoyed every opportunity to teach and pass along his knowledge to younger students. Carving, first soapstone and more recently cedar was also a great passion of Dan's and one that he enjoyed so much. He was very involved with his children and a devoted Husband.

A drop-in memorial will be held 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Saturday March 24th at the IWA hall, 4904 Montrose St in Port Alberni.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dan's memory can be made to Kids Sport online at http://www.kidsportcanada.ca/british-columbia/donation
