David passed away peacefully on the morning of July 27, 2016 while he was enjoying chatting and joking with family and friends. We all dearly wish he could have stayed with us longer. However, thankfully, David lived well during his 89 years and left us while he was still living well. David enjoyed 54 years of many adventures with his wife Twi and devotedly cared for her until she passed away on September 6, 2004. Later he enjoyed more adventures with his companion Nerine; his children: Darrel (Gail), Dwight (Jane), Twila (Ken) and Cal; his grandchildren: Jennifer (Dale), Jason, Shayla (Chris), Erica (Steph), Dalon (Rachel), Ryan (Shayla), Gerrad, Maya, Anamika and Chloe; and his great grandchildren: Matt, Haley, Jayden, Ella, Colton, Cassidy, Ivy, Matéa, Annabella, Kaia, and Nathan. David will be missed by sisters Suzie, Sadie, Holly, Ila, Betty, Toni and brothers Wilf and Alf and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. David loved people, both visiting those he knew and meeting new ones, he had many friends. He enjoyed an eclectic taste for food, travelling, gardening, hunting, fishing and playing games. He was a regular at numerous coffee groups instigating many spirited conversations. David worked in a variety of industries; farming, trucking, road building and clearing farm land for the government as a heavy equipment operator, a builder, a boiler-maker, a mechanic and a welder. He then formed a logging company with his sons and used his many skills to build a feller-buncher capable of harvesting large coastal timber. We will all miss his helpfulness, kindness, patience and love. Flowers are gratefully declined. In lieu donations may be given to Ty Watson Alberni Valley Hospice. A private Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends.
