It is with profound sadness we say farewell to Dave, dear son, brother, father, grandfather and friend who was suddenly taken home to be with his Lord. Dave is now re-united with his loving wife Anna, mother Marjory, and niece Nicolina. Dave is survived by: his son Don (Jenny) Barber with grand-son Brody, daughter Carolyn (Steve) Danley with grand-daughter Anna, father Donald Barber, siblings Doug Barber, Gail Barber, Cal (Melony) Barber, Keith (Seanna) Barber, Brian Barber, Denise (Colin) Haime, Ross (Marjory-Ann) Barber and Donna (Glen) Gabel. Dave is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many great friends. Dave bravely contended with early onset Parkinson’s disease, and was an early implementer of DBI technology. The family expresses deep gratitude to the many medical professionals who have helped Dave over the years. Dave enjoyed his years as an electrician and loved and entertained his students as a math teacher at Chemanius Native College. He loved playing music, Mustangs, model trains and sports. Dave will be greatly missed in gatherings of family, friends and church. His gentle spirit, unique sense of humour and his unflagging optimism in the face of life’s challenges has been a source of strength and encouragement to all who knew him. A service was held on Monday, February 27, 1 pm At First Baptist Church 1650 Waddington Rd., Nanaimo “I know that my Redeemer lives...in my flesh I will see God....I myself will see him with my own eyes” Job 19:25,27
