DONALD MERVIN COCHRANE 78 of Lake Cowichan BC

April 16, 1938 – November 25, 2016

Don was born Shaunavon, Sask. His father died when Don was 6 months old and his brother Jim was 1½. When their Mother Myrtle re-married Ralph Wilkes 7 years later, the all moved to Campbell River. Don spent al his life on Vancouver Island. Don worked on a variety of jobs in his life. On tug boats, on fiishing boats, logging and construction. His last job was with the town of Lake Cowichan where he and Dot lived. Don’s stories of these jobs, many written in rhyme bring a smile to all who read them. Several of these stories were published as well. Don’s humour and story telling ability are what so many people will remember about him. He will be dearly missed and remembered by Dot, his wife of 51 years, his two sons, Michael, and Kelly (Marjorie) and grandchildren Davin, Donovan and Christina as well as Sisters Elaine, Joan, Sarah, Brother Jim and their families. He was also close to and loved by Dot’s brothers and sisters and their families. One of Don’s sources of enjoyment in retirement was golfi ng with his senior friends at the March Meadows Golf Course. Donation to Wheels for Wellness in Don’s name in lieu of fl ower would be greatly appreciated. A private family service will be held at a later date
