Dora passed away peacefully on the morning of November 20 at Ty Watson House.
Born in Germany, Dora immigrated to Canada with her husband Albert and her infant son Juergen in 1951.
The family settled originally in Winnipeg and Dora found employment there as a seamstress in a garment factory. In her twenty year career there, she achieved the position of floor lady.
The move to Port Alberni came in 1971. Originally they bought a cattle farm in Beaufort but traded that property for a house in town due to Albert's health problems.
Dora was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend who loved to garden, entertain and sew.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1992 and by her son in 2010. Dora was adamant that she wanted to live in her own home until the end and she had many close friends that helped her to remain independent.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no service by Dora's request. If friends so desire, a donation to the Alberni Valley Hospice Society, 2579 10th Avenue, Port Alberni, BC, V9Y 2P5 in Dora's name would be appreciated.
