April 8, 1927 - February 2, 2022
Dorothy grew up in Alberni, after moving here with her mother and sister in the late 1930's. Known by many as Nurse Dorothy, she worked for many years in the nursing profession starting at the original West Coast General Hospital, then the "old" hospital on 8th Ave, as well as for many doctors and specialists in town. She was still working a few days a month in her 80s.
Mum never complained about any heath issues and took them all in her stride. She always kept up with the latest information in the world of medicine and current events. Never shy to voice her opinion, she was knowledgeable about so many things and was happy to discuss anything with anyone.
Predeceased by; husband Glenn, mother Ann Frenette, sister Muriel (and husband Bob) Britton, sister-in-law Doris (and husband Len) Crowshaw, niece Ann Britton Campbell and nephew-in-law Reg Clark. Survived and dearly missed by; daughter Nona (Rob) Hamm, son Keith (Vicki) Larson, grandchildren - Caeleb (Leanne), Eli, Sada (Randy), Molly (Jake), Jon (Jenn) and Jay (Christine). Great grandchildren - Shaden, Andon, Ashton, Rowan, Mateo, Kaeden, Wil, Quinn, Aliya, Grady, Ruth, Penelope, Calder, Jody Ann, Jenson, Lucas, Tyler and Jamie. Nieces and nephews - Robyn (Mic) Britton/Rodgers and family, Laurie Clark, Steve (Lorna) Crowshaw and nephew-in-law Kent Campbell and family.
Thank you to Dr. Lund for his years of care and to the home support workers, community nurses and occupational therapists for their help and kindness this past eight months.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later date. In the meantime, as she loved to do, please pour yourself a glass of milk and along with a banana or a couple of cookies (or both), toast her memory.
