Dr. James H. Edwards formerly of Millinocket, Maine and Port Alberni, BC, Canada passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2019.
Born March 27, 1936 in Wilkie, Saskatchewan, Canada, he was the son of the late Arthur Edwards and Nora Turnbull. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Marjorie Edwards; Three son's Jim Edwards and wife Tamara of San Tan Valley, AZ, Bill Edwards and wife Michele of Vinton, VA and
Ron Edwards and wife Stacie of Cary, NC; Six grandchildren Abigail 21, Ethan 21, Isaac 18, Emilie 18, Benjamin 14 and Logan 10.
He spent some of his most enjoyable and memorable years working at the Millinocket Regional Hospital as a General Surgeon. He truly cherished that time and the people he worked with. I, as his son, would come home and ask how he was doing. If it was a good day, he would say not bad. If it was a bad
day, he would be looking at his medical books and saying I could have done more. He valued each and every life.
Upon retirement Jim and Marge moved to Port Alberni, BC, Canada and lived out their lifelong dream of building a home in the Alberni Inlet. They spent many wonderful summers at "the cabin" with their friends, children and grandchildren.
One of Jim's greatest treasures was his grandchildren. When they were little, he would get up early to make them waffles with chocolate syrup and whipped cream. As young adults, he would call them weekly to check in and make sure they were all doing well. He was a wonderful Grandpa, who enjoyed every soccer game, band concert and swim meet.
Jim will be forever loved and remembered by his family, friends and the many patients he took care of over the years. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is at peace.
A small ceremony will be held in Canada for the family this Summer.
