In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Earle A. Thomas, Friday, September 20th, 2024 at the West Coast General Hospital surrounded by his daughters and his eldest grandson. Earle was born in Saint John New Brunswick on June 18th, 1936, a twin, and one of nine children born to Samuel John Thomas and Dorthea (Craig) Thomas.
He leaves to mourn his only remaining sibling, Basil, in Saint John, NB. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jean. He was the very best dad and will be forever missed by his four children, Sharon, Cindy, Jill, and Kevin.
He leaves a legacy of love in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a long list of extended family.
At 18 years of age, Earle left home to enlist in the RCAF, where he served 25 years in various cities all over the world. Upon his retirement from the Air Force, he settled his family in Port Alberni where he worked at the APD sawmill. He was an elder of the Presbyterian church, an active member of the Sunshine Club and was a volunteer for the Community Policing "Citizens on Patrol". Earle was a friend to all those who knew him. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, whether participating or spectating. Anyone who challenged him to a game of crib knew he was a formidable opponent. He was never happier than when he had a plate of food and family around him. Family was always of utmost importance to Earle.
A private service will be held at a later date.
The good-looking guy has left the building.
