Edward Lins

September 20, 2016

Ed Lins passed away peacefully in Nanaimo Regional Hospital on September 20, 2016. Ed was born on March 20, 1932 to Louis and Annie B. Lins in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. and grew up in Vancouver where he met his wife Lydia. They moved from Powell River to Port Alberni where Ed worked many years in the paper mill. The family enjoyed the many camping and fishing adventures the island provided and he rebuilt vintage jeeps and looked forward to hunting expeditions. As the children grew older, Ed and Lydia took on the challenge of developing Tall Timbers Resort at Sproat Lake. After the sale of the resort, Ed had a successful career with Albany International as a technician and salesman. He received many accolades for his accomplishments. It was during this time that he met and married Evelyn Parker. They were the best of friends, ‘soul mates’ and had a wonderful fulfilling life together in Nanaimo. They enjoyed numerous distant travels and put many miles on the old motorhome. With Evelyn’s passing this past July, Ed became very lonely and deeply missed Evelyn.

Ed leaves to mourn his loss, his children and their families, Cheryl (Steve) Johnston in Duncan with Karrie (Jay) and Kristin (Luke), Holly Lins in Parksville, Julie Lins (Jim) in Brentwood with Jamie and Bob (Debbie) in Nanaimo with Taylor and Rhys; and 5 great grandchildren. He also leaves his step daughter Diane (Dan) Johnson. Ed leaves his elder brother Llewellyn (Kamloops), younger brother Tom (Audrey) in Kimberley and sister Marion (Ron) Blizzard in Chilliwack as well as numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Ed, Evelyn and Cassie enjoyed many wonderful friends in their neighbourhood.

There will be no formal service with the family gathering at a later date.
