December 21, 1949 - October 1, 2024

In loving memory ~

Sadly Ellen Haynes passed away in her sleep at home, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease on October 1, 2024. Ellen was born in Port Alberni on December 21, 1949. She is predeceased by her father Harry McMurtrie.

She is survived to mourn her by her husband of 57 years Wayne, her mother Grace McMurtrie, her brother Donald McMurtrie, sons Wayne (Lori), Ryan (Angelina), as well as her cherished grandchildren, Madison (Andrew), Dre (Kyra), Ryley (Tyler), Liam, Ella and numerous nieces, nephews, dear friends, cousins and siblings.

Ellen was a loving spouse, mother and grandmother whose saying was "today is a good day for a good day". Beautiful inside and out her charm would gravitate everyone to her no matter where she was. She was a wonderful cook, had an eye for artistic beauty, loved music, her flowers and collecting heart shaped rocks on her beachcombing expeditions .

Ellen was known for her style and was meticulous in the way she looked. Christmas was a special time for her and she loved to make it special for everyone else. Her unwavering love for family and friends will never be forgotten.

As per her wishes there will not be a formal service but a small family get together at a later date. We are grateful for the love and support shown by family and friends.

Special thanks to Dr Stephanie Bordeaux, Dr Jenifer Takahashi and Dr Barb Prytawa for their care throughout Ellen's struggles as well as nursing staff at Interior Health and Julie and Heather at Comfort Keepers. In lieu of flowers perhaps a donation to Parkinson's BC in Ellen's memory.

My mind still talks to you

My heart still looks for you

But my soul knows you're at peace

I miss you every single day!
