It is with great sadness that the family of Ernie announce his sudden passing on July 9,2020 at Echo Village.

He left Melville in 1956 with a cousin to travel to the west coast looking for a better life. He ended up in Vancouver for a short time working for Dairyland. One Christmas season with family on Vancouver Island saw him to Port Alberni where he became an employee for MacMillan Bloedel Somass of 42 years.
It was while living in Port Alberni that he met and married the love of his life Edna Suelzle in December of 1957.
Ernie enjoyed life to the fullest, he perfected his fishing skills on both the east coast and the Alberni Inlet. Ernie and Edna spent many seasons camping and fishing from China Creek Marina. He had a workshop that many men envied and there wasn't anything he couldn't fix. Ernie and Edna loved to travel, visiting Europe, The Orient, Caribbean, Hawaii and finding Cuba to be their favourite spot.
