Ernie passed away unexpectedly June 13, 2018 at West Coast General Hospital.
Born and raised in Ottawa, he spent the last 38 years on Vancouver Island; moving here for work; but stayed here for love for the Island. He spent his last working years at the Times Colonist in Victoria as a District Manager until his retirement in 2001. Ernie was a member of Manoah Lodge in Tofino and a volunteer for over 10 years with the Mason's Cancer Van Program.
He is survived by long time partner Colleen and children in Ontario - Ernest Sherman (Nancy) & Sharon Kavanagh (Joe); grandchildren Troy Sherman & Lindsay and Jonathan Kavanagh.
In keeping with Ernie's wishes, there will be no service. If so desired, donations in his name may be made to Ty Watson House.
