F. James (Jim) Sawyer

June 3, 1929 - September 4, 2022

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jim Sawyer a much loved member of the Alberni Valley.
He is predeceased by his son-in-law Kevin.
He will be deeply missed by many, especially his family. Survived by his wife Erika, his children Doug, Karen, Dean (Dawna), Colleen, Don, Kim, Wendy, Terri (Steve) and their mother Dolores Joslin as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Jim lived a good long life enjoying retirement for over 35 years. His career with the City of Alberni and the City of Port Alberni was a standout in terms of being a successful City Manager and his membership in the Rotary Club of Port Alberni for 65 years is unparalleled. His commitment to anything he chose to be involved in, was always 100%.
His best times were spent at his beloved cabin at Sproat Lake, being involved in local improvement projects with his dear friend and cabin partner Randy. Without his lake family the last few years would not have been as memorable. Remember the good times. There were so many.
A Celebration of Jim's life will be held at 3:30pm on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at the Alberni Athletic Hall, 3727 Roger St.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's name may be made to the West Coast General Hospital Foundation, 3949 Port Alberni Hwy, Port Alberni, BC., V9Y 4S1
The family would like to extend their thanks to all the staff, nurses and doctors for all the wonderful care Jim received while being a patient at the West Coast General Hospital.
They are truly grateful.
