Francis Walerius passed away peacefully with family by his side on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the age of 85.
Predeceased by his parents, Peter and Ann, and his companion Barbara Brown; Francis is survived by daughter Lorri (Craig); brother Gerry (Leslie); sister Carole (Neil), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Francis grew up in Englefeld, SK on the family farm. After his parents and siblings came to Port Alberni, he continued to run the farm by himself for a few years, until joining them in Port Alberni in 1957.
Francis had a love for music and was able to play any instrument with strings, his favourite being the guitar. After arriving in Port Alberni, he taught many people how to play the guitar. He was also a very hard worker, working in the local mills for both M&B and Weyerhaeuser for many years.
Francis also had a love for animals, especially dogs, and always had a furry friend by his side. It was a hard day for Francis when he was not able to bring his beloved black lab, Jake, with him to Fir Park. Luckily he found a wonderful home for Jake, who loved him for four years until Jake had to be put down on the same day that Francis passed. Francis will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home, 4005 6th Avenue, Port Alberni, BC. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Notre Dame Church, 4731 Burke Road, Port Alberni with Father Harrison Ayre officiating.
