With sadness we announce that Gary passed away August 12, 2022, in Nanaimo, B.C., at the age of 67 years, after a brief but brave battle with cancer.
He is predeceased by his parents Stan and Jacquie McInnes and will be greatly missed by his sister Maureen Rumney (Roger), brother Dave McInnes and Jonathan Ha, as well as nephews Todd Rumney (Jodie), Ryan Rumney (Kim), Michael Rumney, David McInnes, Graydon Aguiar (Kari) and niece Jade McInnes (Kelly), and extended family members.
Gary spent his early years in Port Alberni and Ottawa, Ontario, graduated high school in Burnaby, then returned to Port Alberni for several years before settling in Nanaimo for the last half of his life, working in the areas of real estate and property management.
Gary enjoyed traveling, playing golf, trivia, entertaining, games nights and spending time with family and friends. His dry wit, ability to make everyone feel comfortable in his company and willingness to lend a hand whenever needed will be much missed
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, care aids and volunteers of the Palliative Care Unit of Nanaimo Regional General Hospital for their uncompromising kindness and care during Gary's stay there.
A private family gathering has been held in celebration of Gary's life.
