Born in Choiceland, Saskatchewan on November 30, 1941. Died May 29, 2016 in Port Alberni, BC.

Gary is survived by Donna, married 52 years, and children Vince, Darren and Julie; sister Carolyne (Jim) and brother Brent (Carol). He dearly loved his grandchildren, Brendan, Brian, Ryan, Ryley, Karlie and Sara. He was predeceased by his parents, Brock and Chrissie and brother Grant. Following graduation in Maple Ridge, he began working for Crown Zellerbach in Ocean Falls, BC, where he met Donna. They were married in 1963 in Vancouver. Gary worked in a machine shop and started an apprenticeship receiving an inter-provincial journeyman ticket for machinist. Over the years he worked at Whonnock Lumber, Stag Timber and finally at Franklin Forest Products in Port Alberni,1992 until 2003. He had many interests and hobbies: gardening, fishing,carving, floor curling and playing with his grandchildren. He served as a volunteer fireman for nine years in Maple Ridge. He was a kind, generous, respected man with many talents. Our feeling of loss is heartbreaking. A celebration of his life will be June 18th at 1:00 pm at Yates Funeral Service, 4470 Gertrude St., Port Alberni.
