December 5, 2018
It is with great sadness the family of Gary (Gerry) Sherwood announce his passing on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the age of 78 years. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his parents Irvin and Ethel and brother Ron, Gary is survived by his wife of 57 years Bev; children Deb (Grant), Rick (Lynn); beloved grandson Brandon, Granddaughters Alease, Deanna and their families; sister Sharon (Bill) sister in law Dorothy and families, James, Kirk, Ted and families.

Gary was thrilled to be a great grandpa to 6 amazing young people as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. Gary had a full life, he was full of unconditional love for his family and friends.

Gary was born on the prairies and moved to Port Alberni at a young age. He was proud to be the welcoming face behind the counter of Sherwoods Auto Parts for over 50 years. He was blessed to share many stories and cups of coffee with most of Port Alberni's Old timers and car enthusiasts. Gary loved family, camping and his beloved Beauty Island. Great Central Lake and the island have long been his 'sanctuary' and most loved place on earth.

According to Gary's wishes, cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Gary's life will be held at 4:30 pm, Thursday, December 13, 2018 from the Italian Canadian Hall, 4065 - 6th Ave.
