It’s with great sorrow that we announce the passing of a dear husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend.  Garry passed peacefully at home with family by his side on Friday June 8, 2012. Predeceased by his parents Blair and Mary, brother Norm and half sister Kay (Nova Scotia); Garry is survived by his wife Irene, children: Denise (Chris), Cory (Whitney), grand daughter Jaidah, and siblings, Mel (Debbie), Donna (Larry) and Elaine (Bill) as well as several nieces and nephews.

Garry was born in Port Alberni and worked many years in the logging industry on and near Vancouver Island before returning to the valley to settle down. He was an avid fisherman who was at home on the water in his beloved boat. Joy was the salt air in his face and a fishing rod in his hand. After a lifetime of catching his share of salmon, he embraced the ‘catch and release’ system and reveled in the solitude of his kayak in the Barkley Sound.

There will be a celebration of Garry’s life on Friday, June 15th from 1:00-4:00pm at the Alberni Athletic Hall, 3727 Roger St., Port Alberni, BC.  Flowers are gratefully declined and if you wish, a donation can be made at the hall toward the Alberni Athletic Hall handicapped elevator fund.

Your condolences will be approved within one business day. You will need a valid Facebook account. Please email us if you have any questions.
