Gary "Big Guy" Connauton passed away peacefully in Port Alberni on July 15, 2021 at the age of 71. He was surrounded by his wife and 3 daughters.
Gary will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 31 years, Barb; his children, Jennifer (Aaryn) Flynn, Laura (Trent) Verbeek, and Catherine Connauton; his sister Linda (Bill) Batchelor and his brother Brian (Sheila) Connauton; his 4 grandchildren, Kyle and Declan Flynn and Ridley and Kinsey Verbeek.
He will be greatly missed by his nieces, nephew, relatives and too many friends to list.
Gary was born in Edmonton, Alberta on September 20, 1949. He was an accomplished businessman in the insurance industry who found many opportunities to give back to the community he loved. Knowledgeable in many areas, he was the first call for advice for his family and many friends.
Gary enjoyed winters in Palm Springs and summers at Great Central Lake. He was an avid golfer who spent much time on the links throughout his life. He had a passion for good food, BBQ, scotch, travel, sports, and fantasy sports leagues. He was an Edmonton Oilers and Denver Broncos fan for life.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the ICU at both the Royal Jubilee and the West Coast General Hospital for their care and dedication. A special thank you to Dr. Robert O'Dwyer at the West Coast General Hospital for making it possible for his family to be with him in his last moments.
