George Henry Fletcher passed away on April 16, 2016. George is predeceased by his loving wife of 41 years, Joan (1991); and survived by his children, Georgina (Colin), Linda (Larry) and Leslie (Lorraine); grandchildren, Treena (Dan) Dobie, Keith (Carla) Murray, Erica (Greg) Mollon, Jody (Andy) Olson, Ashley (Matt) Cookney, Jared Fletcher and Stephanie Grant; Great Grandchildren Addison Mollon, Matthew (Caitlan) Mollon, Jakob Murray, Zachary Dobie, Samuel Murray, Jade Mollon, Kale Mollon, Chloe Fletcher, Marcus Murray, Devyn Murray and Wyatt Cookney. George also leaves behind one sister, Grace McRae; sisters-in-law, Mary Fletcher, Shirley Dalby, Audrey Bortoletto, Patricia Krauchi, and Martha (Jacques) Mercier; brother-in-law Bill Kriwokon as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was one of thirteen children born and raised on a farm in Saskatchewan. He moved to British Columbia in 1947 where he met and married his wife, Joan, in 1949. He worked as a millwright/carpenter at the Somass Mill for 36 years and was a member of the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed life to the fullest by camping, travelling, fishing, golfing, dancing, playing cards, bowling and curling as well as tending his garden and helping his neighbours with their yards. He will be missed dearly by his family and those who knew him well or for a short while.

A Celebration of Life will be held May 7, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bavarian Centre, 3035 - 4th Ave., Port Alberni, B.C.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in memory of George Henry Fletcher to Fir Park & Echo Village Foundation, 4411 Wallace Street, Port Alberni, B.C.
