In Loving Memory Of Gerald "Gerry" Clouthier ~ On Friday, December 11, 2020, Gerald "Gerry" Clouthier passed away 2 days after a stroke, at age 72.
Gerry was born in Port Alberni, on August 12, 1948, graduated from UBC in 1970 with a bachelor's degree in Geology. He spent the greater part of his working years as a Geologist with The Utah Mining Company in Vancouver, B.C. Gerry once al so co-owned the Beaverdell Hotel, the oldest operating hotel in B.C., with his best friend, Ken.
Gerry inherited the Clouthier gift of storytelling and is known to have spent an entire night in a storytelling competition with his Uncle George. It was a draw. Gerry would regale his stories of working adventures in exotic locales such as Chile, Costa Rica, the Arizona deserts, Mexico, and even nearby in B.C. and the Yukon Territories. He loved his overproof rum, he loved to scuba dive and was a hippy at heart.
Gerry was preceded in death by his father, Andy in 2014; he is survived by his mother Jean; his sister, Lynn; niece Angel, nephew, Kerry; his uncle Maurice and his wife Teresa, his uncle Raymond and his wife Julie, and his many cousins and extended family in U.K.
Special thanks to cousin Nelson and wife Arlene, cousin Jerry and wife Linda, for all their help during the last few difficult years. Thanks to niece Angel who was Gerry's caregiver him since March of this year.
Gerry will be greatly missed.
