December 21, 1933 - August 12, 2018
It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Gunvor Nedergard, age 84 on August 12th, 2018 in Port Alberni, BC.

She had bravely battled heart disease and dementia over the last 3 years with her faith in Jesus and the support of her family.

Gunvor was born in Port Alberni on December 21, 1933 and spent most of her childhood years in Finland with her parents during the war. Upon return to Port Alberni she went to school, worked at the local plywoods and was one of the "Plywood Girls".

She loved dancing and met her husband Henry at one of the Swedish dances in Parksville. They were married in 1958 and were together for 50 years before his passing in January 2009.

Gunvor was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Her life was her family and she enjoyed giving of herself and loving them all. Her hobbies were gardening, dancing, baking, painting, enjoying her pets and in her younger years playing the accordion and organ.

Gunvor was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and she always appreciated the many encouraging smiles and prayers from her congregation, Pastor Platz and her friends.

Gunvor is survived by her daughters Birgit Isaacs (Jack), Glenda Bertolucci (Carlo), Grandchildren Matthew and Sarah Bertolucci.

The family would like to thank all the Care providers at Echo Village, Fir Park Village, Dr. Sanders and Tammy Mannix for their care and kindness.

A small service to remember Gunvor will be held on August 18th at 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church and internment at Greenwood cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please donate to Alzheimer's Society or SPCA.

"Lord now lettest your servant depart in peace according to thy Word." Luke 2 :29.
