Harvey passed away in the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria on October 31, 2016. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Cecile, and by his son Byron. Harvey is survived by his brother Ted (Karen), his daughter Brenda and his sons Barry (Shelley), Kevin, Joseph and Michael, as well as many extended family members. Cremation has taken place. A private gathering will take place to spread Harvey’s ashes at a later date. Following Harvey’s wishes, no formal service will be held, but an informal memorial tea will be held at the Qualicum Legion on Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 2:00-4:00pm. Born in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan, Harvey worked most of his life as a farmer in Alberta, and then as a chef and caterer in and around Port Alberni and Qualicum. Special thanks to all of the medical professionals and home support who cared for Harvey during his stays in WCGH, RJH, and home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association in Harvey’s memory.
