Helene Heppner passed away in Port Alberni on Monday, January 1, 2018.
Predeceased by her parents James and Geraldine; siblings Anne, Leona and Mark.
Helene is survived by her husband Roy; children Sheri-Lee (Graham), Kevin, Darlene (Randy), and James (Jill); grandchildren Shanna and Olivia; siblings James (Bette), Bernard (Marina), Joanne (Carl) and Phil (Marie); special niece Keri (Gary), special nephew Tim (Lynne) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Helene was born and raised in Ontario where she began working in the federal public service; working in different roles and departments during her career. Her married life included moves from Ontario to Northern Manitoba, back to Ontario and then to British Columbia.
Retirement brought her final move to Port Alberni. Family was Helene's priority which included regular visits to Ontario and wherever else family may be living at the time. Known as "Nan" to her grandchildren and many others, Helene was happy to include many of the friends of her children and grandchildren into her "extended" family. She was strong in her faith and remained a devoted and active member of her church wherever she lived.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lund, Dr. Ferguson, Dr. Puts and the nursing staff at West Coast General Hospital for their care, kindness and compassion shown to Mom.
Thanks to the Home Support staff for their dedication to Mom's care.
A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 am Friday, January 12, 2018 at Holy Family Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 4731 Burke Road, Port Alberni, BC.
