March 10, 1932 - November 17, 2021
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Horst Heinz Krupek, Father, Papa & Great Papa on Wednesday November 17, 2021.
Horst was born on March 10, 1932 in Berlin, Germany and was predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years, Editha and his son Peter. He is survived by his sons, Werner (Margo), Harry (Lynn), Horst (April) and his daughter in law Linda (Ted). Also surviving Horst are his grandchildren, Bruce, Michelle, Kendra, Erin, Matthew, Amanda, Stephen, Alicia, Eric and Krista; as well as great grandchildren, Austin, Aryton, Aiello, Abbie, Keenan, Dawsen, Nathaniel, Brody, Tessa and Brody.
Horst was a dreamer & visionary who emigrated to Canada with his Gardeners Trade, powerful work ethic and not a word of English in 1956 to ensure that his sons would never face the "Draft".
His wife and three oldest sons followed in 1958 to live in Franklin River Camp and their fourth son Horst being born the following year.
He never practiced his "trade" in Canada, instead chose to first drive logging trucks and then opted to head out on the water as a commercial Salmon fisherman, often convincing one of his sons (especially Peter who never suffered seasickness) and a few of his grandsons to join him during the summer fishing or Clam digging during the off season. After "retirement" Horst continued to head out in the woods each day to earn an "extra dollar", picking Salal.
Horst was never truly happier than when he was outdoors, whether it was growing tomatoes, planting a hedge, grafting fruit trees, propagating Roses and Fuchsias for leisure or earning a living from the bounty of nature.
It should be noted that he so enjoyed bringing bouquets to his "girls" at Soldas who treated both Horst and Edith so kindly.
His legacy is a large family of hard working individuals, most with a connection to the outdoors and dogs, an ability to grow most anything and an abiding love for Christmas, with his "sweet spreads" being nearly legendary!
The family would like to thank Dr Lund and the staff at Westhaven for the kindness and care he received over the past several months and for seeing all of us through the last couple of difficult weeks.
Cremation has taken place. No service by request.
