Feb 4, 2018
Born in Ocean Falls, B.C. in September, 1921. Passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 4, 2018 at his home in Victoria, B.C.

Jack was predeceased by his son Eric and his brother Ken. Jack is survived by his sister Patricia, his loving wife of seventy years Margaret, their four daughters Karen, Susan, Lynn and Sandra (Chris) , six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Jack is also survived by his daughter Valerie (Gordon) and her two children and four grandchildren.

Jack grew up in Ocean Falls, and served in the RCAF in England during WW II where he met Margaret. They raised their children in Port Alberni, where Jack spent 27 years working for MacMillan Bloedel.

Jack and Margaret enjoyed many years of boating on the B.C. Coast and spent countless days at Newcastle Island. In retirement Jack developed a love of the desert, spending the winter months in Yuma Arizona until they moved to Victoria in 2001.

He and Margaret also took numerous cruises with Holland America, including such special memories as renewing their wedding vows, and cruising with their four daughters back to Port Alberni in 2009.

Jack loved music. He played clarinet in a big band in his youth, and he could recite every word of every Gilbert and Sullivan operetta. No day was complete without a game of Boggle and a dish of ice cream, both of which no doubt contributed to his long and happy life.
