Znidarsic; James Edward, born September 23, 1939, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday, December 10, 2015 in Port Alberni at the age of 76.

Predeceased by his son Rick, parents Frank and Zora; brothers Frank and Wally.

James is survived by loving wife Diane; daughters Carolyn Fontaine (Ron) and Laurie McMeekin (Colin); grandchildren Dané and Colby McMeekin and Landon and Caleigh Fontaine; sister, Zora Brnjac.

Born and raised in Port Alberni, James worked on the waterfront most of his life as a longshoreman foreman until 1988 and then as Superintendent of barges and ships until his retirement in 2008.

A lifelong resident of the Alberni Valley, James will be remembered as a kind and gentle man, who’s quick wit and ability to get along well with people helped him to build relationships throughout his life. He loved following football, hockey and tennis and he and his daughter were avid fans of the Seahawks. Diane and James were always together, whether venturing and exploring out of the way spots in their motorhome, or enjoying cooking together. He was a dedicated family man who was always there to offer love and moral support to his children and was a beloved Dida to his grandchildren. Another of his enjoyed activities was spending time with his dog, Bubba.

He is deeply loved by his family and will be sadly missed.
