Jeanette Semko passed away at West Coast General Hospital on Thursday, February 9, 2017, at the age of 74.
Predeceased by her parents Edward and Marjorie Merx as well as brothers Kenneth and Frank; she is survived by her family: loving husband Ken, son Todd, sister-in-law Kathy, niece Tanya, nephew Glen (Corrine), grand-niece Helena, as well as many relatives and friends.
Born on February 3, 1943, Jeanette was raised in the Alberni Valley. She worked as a secretary for MacMillan Bloedel, in both the Somass and Cameron Divisions, for 20 years until her son was born. She was a caring wife and mother who was involved in many school functions and fundraisers as her son was growing up. Jeanette loved cooking, baking, and loved sharing her delicious treats with others. She loved to play the piano, and sing. She also loved to travel and visited Jamaica, Mexico, Canary Islands, Europe, as well as many places across Canada and the United States.
The family would like to thank Dr. Darryl Lund for the care he provided to Jeanette over the years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Chapel of Memories, 4005 6th Avenue, Port Alberni, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jeanette’s memory to The Arthritis Society, 2680 Richmond Avenue, Victoria, BC V8R 4S9, or a charity of your choice.
