April 16, 1952 - March 26, 2025

In loving memory ~

Jerrold "Jerry" Leon Ofstie, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away suddenly on March 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 16, 1952, in Melfort, Saskatchewan, Jerry was the third of four children to Myrtle and Worden Ofstie. At the age of three, the family relocated to Nestor Falls, Ontario, where they enjoyed life on the shores of Lake of the Woods. When Jerry was 14, they moved again, this time to Port Alberni, British Columbia. After high school, he briefly worked at BC Tel on the mainland before returning to Port Alberni, where he embarked on a remarkable career at the Somass Sawmill Division. Starting as a mail boy, Jerry's unwavering dedication and strong work ethic propelled him to the position of Sales Manager, where he excelled for many years.

Jerry lived life on his own terms, embodying a spirit of adventure and fearlessness. He was always eager to try new things and fully embraced every opportunity that came his way. A true lover of the outdoors, he filled his days with a myriad of activities, including hunting, fishing, skiing, biking, hiking, and sailing. Throughout his career and personal life, Jerry traveled extensively, exploring many beautiful countries and creating lasting memories.

In retirement, Jerry and his wife, Gaby, devoted their time to nurturing their beautiful property in Qualicum. Together, they lovingly cultivated a variety of fruits and vegetables, enjoying the fruits of their labor. When not tending to their garden, they cherished their travels and in recent years, time spent taking care of their beloved grandchild, Koda. Jerry embraced retirement with enthusiasm, taking pride in his roles as a cook, shopper, and caretaker of their home.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Myrtle and Worden, and his brothers, Ken and Lonnie.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and adventure, remembered fondly by his devoted wife, Gaby; his children, Sara (Chris) and Scott (Cindy); his stepchildren, Brayden (Lisa) and Katie; his cherished grandchildren, Amara, Eli, Marria, Koda, Logan, and Thoren and sister, Beverly.

Jerry's vibrant spirit and zest for life will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Red Cross.
