“Jim” passed away after a very short time in Ty Watson on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the age of 91 years. Predeceased by wife Margaret, sister Grace and brother Dennis. Survived by children Sandra (Charlie), Dianne (Lee), Dennis (Leslie) and Brenda; 9 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; siblings Helen, John, Fred, and Nora; sister-in-law Irma Hillis; as well as many nieces and nephews. Born on the prairies, Jim came to Port Alberni with his new bride in 1948 to look for work. He worked for 9 years at Somass Mill before finding work at the Pulp Mill for 32 years. When not working he curled, as well as took up the sport of golf. Family gatherings were his “happy time” and he loved being around his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Just a few short weeks ago a full family gathering took place and he enjoyed it so much. According to Jim’s wishes, no formal public gathering will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory may be made to Alberni Valley Hospice Society Ty Watson House, 3088 3rd Ave, Port Alberni, BC V9Y 2A5, Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society, 3030 3rd Ave, Port Alberni, BC V9Y 2A5 7832288
