Joe Pistotnik

August 18, 1954 ~ June 22, 2021

It is with warm hugs that we share that Joe Pistotnik passed peacefully at WCGH early on Tuesday June 22, after a brief stay at Fir Park where he was lovingly cared for by the kind nurses and staff, especially Michelle.

His memory lives on in his loving wife Pat, his beautiful daughters Jenn, Julianna, and Serena, and his cat Benny. He was a wonderful husband and father. Joe's legacy is his family; that he loved so deeply - in the end - that is what makes a great man.

The last years of Joe's life were

not easy, with multiple medical issues, but he was cared for by his wife and daughters at home almost to the end of his life. His family would like to express their most grateful thanks to Dr. Arno Kitshoff and Maureen for their dedication.

"Smokin' Joe" worked as a substitute teacher before starting as a guard at the RCMP detachment. During his time there, he volunteered as an auxiliary for 12 years, and was awarded Auxiliary of the Year twice.

An avid handyman, Joe loved working around the house. He spent summers fishing with his friend Dave Cusson, and went to many concerts with his daughters. More recently, he picked up guitar playing with Dennis Olsen, and spent several years boxing with his Parkinson buddies at Rock Steady Boxing.

Joe had a wonderful sense of humour that brightened all our lives, and was known for his iconic mustache. He was a kind, gentle soul that loved nothing more than a good cup of coffee. He adopted many cats over the years from the SPCA and we know they're welcoming him with open paws.

We love you Joe and we'll see you again.

There will be no service held, at Joe's request.
