In Loving Memory ~

It is with peaceful hearts Joseph Gerard (Gerry) Hebert was received back into the arms of Jesus on Monday, October 16, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Gerry Hebert was born on July 10, 1934, in Albertville, Sask. to Eugene and Marie (Landry) Hebert.

Gerry and his family moved to Port Alberni in 1953 to follow his sister Jessie and take on a job at the local plywood plant.

He then met his best friend and lifetime companion, Elizabeth (Betty) Marie Schmidt under the cherry tree, and later married on September 6, 1958. Together they just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Gerry was a proud family man with great faith. His joy in life came from spending time with his family and friends. Many years were spent with friends on the ski hill, camping, playing tennis, golfing, and travelling.

Gerry worked for over 30 years with Chevron, driving the oil truck, until he retired in 1996. Which then gave him more time for his hobbies - golfing and working in his workshop.

For over the last 20 years, Gerry's hobby became more of a part-time side gig, spending many hours in his workshop building beautiful treasure boxes that eventually sold all over the world. But Gerry always said his favourite hole in his golf game was the 19th hole, which he spent much time at (when he wasn't in the workshop or spending time with his family.)

Gerard (Gerry) Hebert is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty), his son Craig, daughters Cheryl, and Laura (Troy), Granddaughter Megan (Cameron), and great-grandchildren Nathan and Makayla.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Paul and Ronald, and his sisters Jessie and Nicky.

Gerry made a lasting impact on everyone he met and will be greatly missed. An open mass will be held at Notre Dame Catholic Church on Friday, October 27th at 1:00 p.m.

Proverbs 20:7

The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him.

Thank you to Dr. Izak Nel and the staff at West Coast General for such great care in his final days.
