With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our dad, Joe Hill, on January 31, 2022 at the age of 91. He will be remembered as a caring husband, father, Gusso, friend and business partner.
Joe was proud to have been born and raised in Port Alberni to parents Ida (nee Howitt) and Roy Hill with siblings Ruth and Don, all of whom have pre-deceased him. After attending UBC, Joe and Clara returned to the Alberni Valley to raise their family. Joe joined the partnership at Church Pickard Lane and Newman and went on to have a successful 56 year career as a Chartered Accountant.
Joe was predeceased in 2016 by his wife of 62 years, Clara (nee Levander). He leaves behind his children, Doug (Marilyn); David (Denise); Brian (Janice) and Lindsay (Neil). He is survived by 8 grandchildren, Brent, Mikhaela, Sarah, Trevor, Courtney (Kai), Rhys, Kade and Brynn. Joe was thrilled to become a Great-Gusso to his great-grandson, Cohen, in 2021. The grandchildren adored their Gran and Gusso and they will treasure all the wonderful memories of their time spent together.
For the past 5 years, Joe has resided at Rainbow Gardens where he has received exceptional care. Despite the many challenges he has faced, Joe never complained and always appreciated the love and support of his caregivers and family.
Joe will be greatly missed but his extraordinary love for his family will live on. There will be no service. Those wishing to make a donation in Joe's memory may do so to the Parkinson's Society of BC.
