November 2, 1939 - June 17, 2021
On June 17, 2021, Judith Marie Bakken aged 81, passed away after a struggle with dementia.
Judith was a loving wife to Hakon (Hank) and a much-loved mother of two sons, David and Jordy.
Judy was born November 2, 1939 in Nanton Alberta. She is predeceased by her parents Mary and Ross Sweeten and brother Jim.
Judy loved her family and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a wonderful baker and created some special memories with theme birthday cakes for her husband, sons and granddaughter. Her son Jordy learned his way around the kitchen helping to bake the cakes. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed ceramics.
Summers were spent at Sproat Lake with extended family and friends. She enjoyed curling and bowling in Port Alberni clubs. Judy had a special relationship with her granddaughter Alyssa. They spent many years together while Alyssa was growing up exploring museums, gardens and culture on Vancouver Island. Alyssa called Judy Bubby and the love and care Judy gave to Alyssa influenced her to grow in a wonderful young lady.
Judy and Hank spent many hours renovating and landscaping both their home and summer cabin at Sproat Lake. Their families have been able to enjoy many happy visits building lasting memories.
Judith is survived by her husband Hakon (Hank), sons David (Deanna), Jordy (Silvia), only granddaughter Alyssa (Shaun) Great Grandson Jaiden and sister Ann.

Do not stand at my grave and weep; I am not there. I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints in snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn rain
When you awaken in the morning's hush; I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled light; I am the soft stars that shine at night
Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die.
