June Spooner of Port Alberni, BC, passed on January 1, 2022 after a short stay at Ty Watson House. She was there under the excellent care of nurses, doctors and staff.
June was born in England on June 25, 1936 to Ernest and Mary Tipping. She met her husband Charles Spooner in Long Eaton in 1956. They were married and had two children, Cheryl and Gary. In 1970 June and Charles and their children moved to Canada and settled in Ontario.
June was a great lover of horses and at the age of 70 she become the owner of her own miniature horse, Comet. June showed him at horse shows in the "driving" category. She always did really well and was remembered by all as that beautiful, little English lady with her little chestnut mini. She left a favorable impression with all who met her.
In 2017, June moved with her daughter, Cheryl, and grandson, Mitchell, to a new life in Port Alberni. June and Cheryl's dream came true when they bought a home and started a salon business, CG Hair Salon. June was the light and happiness of the business. Clients loved her smile and English accent. She was a charming receptionist and will be missed by all.
June and Cheryl cherished working together in their new business, they were best friends and soulmates.
June was predeceased by her husband, Charles, and is survived by daughter, Cheryl (Spooner) Graham, son, Gary Spooner, and grandchildren, Mitchell Graham, Lauryn and Evan Spooner.
In lieu of flowers donation can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A service has taken place at Chapel of Memories on February 23rd, 2022 at 2 pm.
