August 6, 2018
Ken Parkinson passed away peacefully at home, with his family by his side, on Monday, August 6th, 2018 at the age of 68.

Predeceased by his parents Dave and May,  Ken is survived by loving family; wife Wendy; children Tanya (Kyle), Cheryl (Steve), and Joyce; grandchildren Samantha, Jordan, Kapri, Callum, and Hugo; siblings Warren (Cecilia), Tom (Loretta), Dennis (Cindy) and Marlene (Marty); many nieces, nephews, and extended family as well as his 'hunting buddies'.

Born in the prairies, Ken came to Port Alberni as a child in 1955, where he grew up in the valley. As a young man Ken had many jobs, from working at the bowling alley and the foundry to being a deckhand on the UChuck and dabbling in construction work. Ken enjoyed working along side his brother Warren driving truck and brother Dennis at Carters Shoe Repair, before returning to his work at the Somass Mill.

When not working, his passion was his yearly hunting trips into the Northern BC interior with his hunting partners, whether it be for deer, moose or elk, he always enjoyed being outdoors. He also enjoyed being his own backyard mechanic, tinkering and repairing vehicles. Family dinners were his greatest enjoyment in life, as he got to spend time with the ones he loved, surrounded by his grandchildren that he adored so much.

A gathering to celebrate Ken will be held from 11 am - 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 3656 - 14th Ave, Port Alberni, BC.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken's name may be made to the charity of your choice.
