Kenneth Michael Goddard passed away peacefully on March 6, 2023, in Nanaimo, B.C. at the age of 69.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ken and Mary Goddard, and survived by his brothers Jim (Carey and Ashley) Bill, Daniel (Lance and Kelsey), and sister Barb (Tasya and Montana). Kenny meant more to his family than he ever understood.
Through his death, he reminds us of our existence and the importance of family and friends. Ken grew up in Port Alberni and enjoyed playing several sports, especially baseball and soccer. In fact, Ken and his brother Jim both won an aggregate trophy for track and field in the same year.
Eventually, Ken moved away in his late teens and took a more challenging path in life, but it was his path to take. Ken never made any excuses or blamed anyone for his choices. Ken made many friends through his journey, but his best friend was his brother Bill.
Ken and Bill were an inseparable team making friends from wherever they lived in Port Hardy to Nanoose and ending back in Nanaimo. When Kenny was diagnosed with cancer, Bill became his caregiver and always kept hope until the end.
We thank the Nanaimo Palliative Care Unit for its kindness, support, and compassion. The family wishes any memorial contributions be made to the Palliative Care Unit, Nanaimo General Hospital.
We also want to thank Rocky and Cathy for spending time with Kenny reminiscing, laughing, and crying.
Finally, a very special thank you to our brother Bill for always being there for Kenny.
