Laura “Molly” McLean

Sep 29, 1925 – Dec 31, 2017
The McLean family is sad to announce the passing of our loving mother, Lolly.

Mom passed away in her sleep, in her own home, just as she would have wanted, at the age of 92.

We feel fortunate to have spent one last wonderful family Christmas with her.

Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband and high school sweetheart Howard (Papa), her only sister June, and nephews Jim and Dougie.

Mom is survived by her children Brent (Kaye) McLean, Jill (Bryce) Ferguson, and Cindy (Bill) Havdale; her grandchildren Ryder, Leif (Kim), Heidi (Rob), Brooks, Travis (Deana), Quinn (Thomas), and Ross (Roberta); her great-grandchildren Brett and Murphy; and her nephews Chris, Shane and Howard.

Lolly was born in Canoe, BC and moved with her parents and sister to Port Alberni when she was a teenager. She lived the rest of her life in the Alberni Valley, a place she dearly loved and a community she supported wholeheartedly.

Lolly was a devoted wife and caring and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending family time at Sproat Lake, playing bridge with good friends, and Las Vegas.

She volunteered for numerous organizations and donated countless hours to the hospital auxiliary thrift store.

Lolly, on behalf of the McLean family, donated The McLean Mill, which is now a National Historic Site.

We will greatly miss our Nanny (Nani) but we are happy that she will finally be again with the love of her life, Papa.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the McLean Mill in Port Alberni would be appreciated.

A small family gathering is planned for February.
