September 27, 1934 - June 12, 2025
In loving memory ~
It is with deep love and gratitude that the family of Lea Margiit Gardner announces her peaceful passing on June 12, 2025, at the age of 90.
Lea was born in Vancouver, BC, on September 27, 1934, and spent much of her life on the West Coast, including cherished years in Kyuquot, Ucluelet, and finally Port Alberni. On April 17, 1954, she married the love of her life, Joe Gardner. Together they built a beautiful life and shared 67 years of marriage before Joe's passing in 2021.
Lea and Joe were adventurous and active, enjoying many camping trips in their motorhome and memorable travels to Cuba and Mexico. One of their favourite pastimes was attending jazz festivals, where their shared love of music came alive. Loved ones take comfort in the thought that Lea and Joe are now reunited and dancing together once again.
A talented and meticulous seamstress, Lea was also an accomplished quilter who gifted her family with beautiful handmade creations that will be treasured for generations.
She is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children: Karen Mallon, Linda Gardner (Gary Redding), and Mitch Gardner (Karen); her grandchildren: Eric Harnish, Katrina Mallon, Julie Shepard, Jared Harnish, Ashlee Vaisius, and Bailey Gardner; her nine great-grandchildren; and one beloved great-great-grandson.
Lea will be remembered for her quiet strength, warmth, and the deep love she had for her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind.
A small celebration of life may be planned at a later date.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Fir Park Village for their care and support during Lea's time there. In lieu of flowers please make a memorial donation to the Fir Park Residents 'Society, 4411 Wallace Street, Port Alberni, B.C. V9Y 7Y5.
