HIGGINS, Lettie passed away in Port Alberni on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the age of 81.
Predeceased by her first husband, Jim; sisters Elsie, and Helen; nephew Gordon
Survived by loving partner Butch; children Shelley (Sheldon) and Randy (Joanne); grandchildren Jessica and Kailyn; nephews Bill (Moira) and Jim (Wanda); nieces Joan (Rob) and Linda (Terry) as well as many extended family members and countless friends.
Born in Alberta, Lettie came to Port Alberni in the late 50’s. Lettie whole heartedly threw herself into getting involved in the community of Port Alberni from the moment she arrived. From baking wedding cakes, to volunteering for Brownies, Red Cross Blood Donor Clinics, St. Johns Ambulance, Sons of Norway and Port Alberni Legions. She was also the president of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary for 16 years and worked countless teas. Lettie loved to socialize and one of the family memories is of her massive tea cup collection. The owner/operator of Jillette Custodial, she ran the commercial janitorial company for over 15 years. An avid card player of Crib and Whist, she entered into the Seniors Olympics and won medals for her card playing. Along with all of these she was also a long time member of the Sunshine Club as well as countless other clubs.
A Celebration of Lettie’s Life will be held 1:00pm – 3:00pm, Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #293, 4680 Victoria Quay, Port Alberni.
