It's with very heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of our much beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother Lois Ann More (Sutherland) in Port Alberni, BC, on Sunday March 29, 2020 at the age of 88, after a long battle with cancer. Lois Ann was born in Cadillac, Saskatchewan Dec 11, 1931 and was the youngest of 4 siblings. The family later moved to Swift Current in 1942 where Lois Ann met and later married Earl More in 1951. Shortly after their marriage Lois Ann and Earl moved to Edmonton, Alta where she worked in the oil industry for several years. In 1958 they started a family and Lois Ann stayed home to look after the children. In 1964 they moved to Port Alberni, B.C. where Lois Ann worked at the West Coast General Hospital until her retirement in 1994. Lois Ann had a passion for music and loved to sing. She was a very proud member of Timbre for decades which also included a performance at the world-renowned Carnegie Hall in New York. Lois Ann was a kind, generous and fun-loving lady who loved her family very much, entertaining friends and she was very active with the Anglican Church. She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure to know her.
Lois Ann was predeceased by her husband Earl, parents Dudley and Edna, sister Elva, brothers Lorne and Ron. She is survived by her son Richard (Carol), Sheila Hatton, Nancy (Mike) Llewellyn, granddaughters Brenda (Mike) Tulissi, Laura (Aiden) Jessica (Myles) Dunne, Nicole (Damian) Nass and Cody. Great granddaughters Taylor, Katlyn, Aleeah, Brook, Darian and Olivia. The family would like to thank NP Chiste, all of the doctors and nurses at West Coast General Hospital, Dr Johnsen and the nurses and care aides at Home Support and all of the nurses and staff at Ty Watson House.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in the name of Lois Ann More to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements to be announced at a later date when gatherings are permitted.
