Sander; Magdalena passed away peacefully in West Coast General Hospital on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at 90 years of age.
Predeceased by her husband Adelbert and five brothers: Joseph, Edward, Valentine, Ferdinand “Fred” and Tatteus “Ted” Schmidt. Magdalena is survived by her children: Marilyn Merwin (Ron), Don Sander (Heather) and Ken Sander (Gail); brothers:
William Schmidt, Raymond Schmidt (Joyce), Jerome Schmidt (Sandy) and Elizabeth “Betty”
Hebert (Gerry); sisters-in-law: Mary Schmidt, Audrey Schmidt and Mary Schmidt; 10 grandchildren: Brian Merwin (Christina), Krista Reynaud (Kurt), Leah Collings (Graham), Lindsey MacAulay (Jeff), Lauren Sander, Michael Sander (Megan), Matthew Sander, Michelle Wilkinson (Shane), Christopher Sander and Jonathan Sander; 8 great grandchildren: Alexandra and Elizabeth Merwin, Abigail and Joshua Collings, Grayson and Sophia Reynaud and Noah and Madelyn MacAulay as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Magdalena was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who gave of herself for her family. She was civic minded and volunteered with a number of organizations including the Catholic Women’s League of which she was a longtime member.
A Funeral Mass will take place at 1:00pm on
Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church 4731 Burke Rd., with Fr. Stephen Paine officiating. Interment to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
