Aug 14, 1940 - Feb 15, 2018
With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Margaret Anderton on February 15, 2018. She showed great strength and courage in fighting her long illness.

Predeceased by infant son, Christopher, parents Michael and Mabel Enright, sisters Judith and Michelle Enright.

Margaret is survived by loving husband Al (Albert) of Port Alberni, BC, sister Clare Reid and brother Patrick Enright in Australia. As well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family in Australia. Also good friend Joanie Frew and family.

Born in Brisbane, Australia, second eldest child of five; Margie completed her 4 year registered nurses training program at the Mater-Misericoriae Hosptial. She then completed a mid-wifery course in Perth. She worked in the outback, Western-Queensland. The flying doctor was her only medical contact.

Emigrated with friend Joan Frew to Canada in 1966, settling in Port Alberni where she worked at West Coast General Hospital. Margie was an exceptional nurse who loved her profession, continuing to advance her education throughout her career. She was head nurse on mens floor, asst. head nurse on maternity, worked many years as afternoon supervisor. An excellent teacher, she mentored many young nurses who will remember her forever. She also earned the respect of her professional colleagues.

Margie met Al shortly after arrival in Port Alberni. They married and settled in Port Alberni, and in January this year, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They shared a wonderful life, travelling extensively around the globe, making many friends along the way.

Hobbies included her beautiful rose garden, and painting watercolours, ballroom dancing, swimming and scuba diving; she also loved taking Tiggy and Dee-dee, their mini-poodles on daily walks.

Margie loved and enjoyed her life, practiced her faith, and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial mass will be held at Holy Family Notre Dame Catholic Church at 4731 Burke Road in Port Alberni, BC on Saturday February 24th, 2018 at 11:00 am. A tea will follow in the church hall downstairs after the mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ty Watson House, or a charity of your own choosing, with much appreciation.
