Cook, Mildred Ethel passed away peacefully with family by her side in Port Alberni on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at the age of 84.

Predeceased by husband Elliott, and 2 brothers; Donald and Laurie. Mildred is survived by children Rex, Linda (Bob), David (Rita), Kevin and Wade (Lori); 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; siblings Doug (Eva), Gladys, Carol (Borden), Barry (Wanda), and Alice (Walter) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Nova Scotia, Mildred grew up on Seal Island where her father was the lighthouse keeper. In the mid 1940s she moved off the island to Liverpool, then to the Halifax/Dartmouth area before moving to the Alberni Valley in 1957 with husband Elliott and son Rex. More children were to follow. On top of being the wife/bookkeeper for Elliott's commercial fishing business, a wonderful homemaker and 'Mom to many', Mildred was kept busy. Mildred was involved with so many things - curling, hunting, camping at Great Central Lake, skiing and the Maritimers Club as well as being a Smitty's regular.

A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm, on Saturday, October 27th at the Alberni Valley Rescue Squad Hall 4790 Tebo Ave Port Alberni BC.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mildred's memory to the West Coast General Hospital Foundation, 3949 Alberni Hwy, Port Alberni, BC., V9Y 4S1.
