It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Mildred Joyce Gaudreau on December 11, 2016.

Mildred was born May 8th 1925 on the family farm near Kelvington, Saskatchewan. She was the 4th of 5 children born to Horace and Iva Jenkins.


At the age of 18 she travelled with her family via train to BC and eventually to Port Alberni where she lived until her passing. She worked at the Alberni Plywood Mill and the old Barclay Hotel, a hard worker who took pride in getting the job done right. After retirement she became a member of the Royal Canadian Legion’s Ladies Auxiliary and also a member of the Sunshine Club. She enjoyed playing cards and travelling to Cuba and many other destinations.


Predeceased by her son Larry; parents Horace and Iva Jenkins; siblings Fred Jenkins and wife Gladys, Lillian Zoost and husband Roy, Virginia Whipp and husband Fred; sister-in-law Lucy Renaud and husband Fred; brother-in-laws Roland Gaudreau and wife Della, Leo Croteau, and Steve Terepocki; and special friend and companion John Milczarek.


Mildred is survived by her husband Robert; daughter Helen Helim (Jack Christian); grandchildren Carla Helim (Ken Dobbie), Kevin Christian, Renae Gill (Jimii); great grandchildren Janae and Rylie Gill; sister Eva Bella and husband Andy; brother & sister-in-laws Ben and Margaret Gaudreau, Frances Croteau, Jean Terepocki, Rose and Vic Taulu, as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends.


The family would like to extend their thanks Drs. Van Der Merwe and O’Dwyer and their staff for the years of care they gave Mildred.


A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday January 6th, 2017 at 1 pm at the Holy Family/Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 4731 Burke Road, Port Alberni.
