In loving memory ~
Norm passed away very peacefully on the morning of November 10th, surrounded by friends and family. Despite living with health challenges for many years, he never let that stop him from embracing life to the fullest, and kept those around him smiling and feeling cared for into his final days.
Born in Trail, the second of four sons to Alex and Vicki Bisaro, who had emigrated from Italy in the 20s, Norman grew up in the close-knit community of "the Gulch"- characterized by love, warmth, card games, and a strong attachment to Italian heritage. In 1976, Norm married his devoted wife, Beverly, creating a new family with her and her small daughter, Michelle. Later, he would become 'Zio' to his nieces and nephews and 'Nonno' to his beloved granddaughter Jordyn.
Family was central to Norm's life. The highlight of each week was the evening he would spend with his granddaughter, and Friday lunch with his family was another favorite. He also had a group of loyal friends who met over the years at various coffee shops and the Quay. He spoke fondly of many, many people - and was well liked in return.
Norman brought irresistible enthusiasm and energy to everything he did. He was a dedicated swimmer, a skilled math tutor, and a fiercely loyal Canucks and Chicago Cubs fan (poor guy). He was a season ticket holder of the Port Alberni Bulldogs for several years, and served the community through his involvement on the Parks & Recreation Commission, The Knights of Columbus and Kinsmen groups, and later the boards of The MS Society and the Port Alberni Association for Community Living.
One of his favorite things was to seek out a patch of sunshine in the backyard (after exercising!) and turn his face to its warmth while enjoying a cup of coffee.
He is loved deeply, remembered fondly, and wished lasting Peace. Norm is survived by his loving wife Beverly, daughter Michelle, and granddaughter Jordyn; his brothers Raymond (Suzanne) and Terry (Connie) - Predeceased by his brother Gordon (Margaret); and by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will remember him often with love and laughter.
Funeral mass to be held November 24th at 11am at Holy Family Notre Dame Catholic Church.
