Apr 13, 1936 - Feb 25, 2018
Pat passed away peacefully at West Coast General Hospital on February 25th. Pat is survived by her beloved husband Thomas, daughter Kelly (Terry), son David (Jennifer), much loved and very special grandchildren Denae, Paige, Cameron and Kate. Pat is also survived by her loving siblings; sister Ruby, brother Keith (Cherie), sister Pam and their families.

Patricia will be missed by her wonderful brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews and their families whom she loved dearly.

Pat spent many wonderful years as part of the Edgar family and Smart family and had the added bonus of being a part of the Badovinac family whose kids were like grandchildren to her. Pat loved to meet all of Kelly and David's friends and always welcomed them warmly into her life. Pat made dear friends in the Queen Charlotte Islands and here in Port Alberni whom she stayed close with her entire life.

Pat was born in England, and then moved to Australia with her family. She was active in sports, theatre, music and ballroom dancing. She met Tom on a holiday in Christchurch New Zealand. After getting married in Australia, they moved to Canada. While raising her family, she formalized her music studies and became a Registered Music Teacher with the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and the Victoria Conservatory of Music. Pat was a music teacher in the Valley for over 40 years and was very dedicated to helping young musicians be the very best they could be. Pat's music students were very important to her and she remained as connected as she could over the years.

Pat and Tom had recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with friends and family at their home on Grandview Road, enjoying the beautiful gardens and landscape that they had created over the years. Pat loved gardening, reading - in most recent years she had participated in a book club - quilting and dominoes.

Her grandchildren were a special light in her life, and she was very proud of all their accomplishments and loved hearing about all their adventures. Grandma attended as many school, music and sporting events that she could and was always her grandchildren's most vocal supporter.

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, March 16th, from 1:00-4:00 PM at the Alberni Valley Rescue Squad Hall at 4790 Tebo Ave, Port Alberni, BC.
