November 30, 1933 – September 21, 2019
Raoul Omer Girard passed peacefully in his sleep with family present at the age of 85 on September 21, 2019. He was born November 30, 1933 in Laventure Sask. He lived on his family farm with his 8 brothers and 3 sisters until 1953 when he moved to B.C. He met Elaine Poirier and they married in 1956. They resided in Port Alberni until 1971 when they moved their 5 children to Parksville.
Omer worked as a Longshoreman then a Foreman in the Stevedoring Industry all over BC until he retired at the age of 53. He loved his job and enjoyed sharing his many stories of his life on the waterfront.
He will always be remembered as a loving, gentle, kind hearted man that would help anyone in need. He made many friends everywhere he went.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years Elaine Girard and his 5 children.
Albert (Diana) Girard, Terry (Allan) Farrington, Jeannine Oakes, Paul (Jacqueline) Girard and Lea Girard. He was blessed with 10 Grandchildren and soon to be #15 Great Grandchildren. He loved his family and truly cherished his memories.
Omer will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Celebration of Life will be held on October 16 at 12 pm in the Clubhouse at Eaglecrest Golf Course, Qualicum Beach
