It is with deep sadness that the family of Renger DeVries announces his passing on Friday, September 30, 2022 with his family by his side.
Renger is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Carol; daughter, Pamela (Andrew) Schneider of Port Alberni; grandchildren, Rebecca (Spencer) Pierce, Jordan and Zackery Schneider, Colton and Ashley DeVries; brothers, Gerry (Ann) of Qualicum Beach and Harry (Cindy) of Courtenay; sisters, Margrit (John) DeJong of Port Alberni, Willie (Wim) Van Herk of Nanaimo, Tuieni (Dale) Wallington of Campbell River; sister in law, Jane DeVries of Port Alberni; as well as many extended family members and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Teunis and Gerritje DeVries; son, Paul and brother, Aalt.
Renger immigrated to Canada with his family from the Netherlands in 1952 coming to Port Alberni. He loved the Valley. Renger worked at the Somass Division for 37 years, retiring in 1998. He was a hard worker and achieved much in his 80 years of this life.
We are thankful for the time we had with him. He was much loved, and we will miss him forever.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the Christian Reformed Church, 5033 Roger Street in Port Alberni. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Cancer Society of BC.
